SPAGHETTI DINNER TO RAISE FUNDS THAT WILL HELP PROVIDE FREE BOOKS FOR PEKIN FIRST GRADERS
The Pekin chapter of Altrusa International will hold its 14th annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the Pekin Moose Lodge at 2605 Broadway Road in Pekin on Sunday, March 9, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Proceeds from this fundraiser are used to help provide free books to all first graders in Pekin School District 108 through the club’s Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) program.
The Pekin Altrusa Club also provides a scholarship for a graduating Pekin Community High School senior and school supplies for area children. The club also contributes financial and volunteer support to other area community and civic organizations throughout the year.
Altrusa is a service organization chartered in 1929 that is composed of executives, business leaders and other professionals. The Pekin chapter promotes literacy and a number of other community-service activities.
Dinner includes spaghetti with meat sauce, garden salad with oil and vinegar dressing, garlic bread, texas cake for dessert and tea or coffee. Adult tickets are $7 and children 12 and under are $3.50, with carry-outs available. Tickets are available at the door or in advance by contacting Debby Dant at 382-1579 or through any Altrusa member.
