Customer Service Representative - Personal Lines Underwriting

Job Description

Position Objective: Process all aspects of Underwriting activity on existing policies within established authority levels and direct transactions outside their authority to the appropriate processing area. Field phone questions and inquiries from agents and policyholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive calls on the phone throughout the day
  • Review and process policy changes, reinstatements, cancellations, renewals, diaries, certificates of insurance, and miscellaneous correspondence from agents
  • Review pending correspondence and form letters
  • Answer questions from agents and policyholders regarding general underwriting practices and policy specific questions
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills
  • Ability to organize and reason in a logical manner
  • Good sense of timing and the ability to recognize problems
  • Ability to inform and consult with co-workers, supervisors, agents and policyholders
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to work under stress
  • Ability to manage time and complete multiple task while continually meeting deadlines
